  • Wagner Corporation entered into the aviation market in 2014 through the development of Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport. Constructed in just over 19 months and 11 days from 2012-2014, it is the first major greenfield public airport development in Australia in more than 50 years and the first ever fully privately funded airport in Australia.

Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport is a gateway airport for Toowoomba and South-East Queensland and provides intrastate, interstate and international connectivity for the region. Boasting the only scheduled weekly international dedicated freighter service in Queensland, as well as 60+ weekly passenger flights and a direct dedicated helicopter service to Brisbane and the Sunshine and Gold Coasts, Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport is a catalyst for aerospace, education, tourism and economic development in the region.

Billed as the country’s greenest airport due to the use of Wagner’s proprietary Earth Friendly Concrete, this one project alone saved some 6,600 tonnes of CO² emission by using a geopolymer cement in place of conventional cement-based concrete in 51,000 m² of heavy-duty pavements, the turning node, foundations, wall panels and civil works.

Located within the Toowoomba Wellcamp Precinct is the Aerospace & Defence Precinct. In 2022, Wagner Corporation successfully secured a partnership with Boeing to build on its existing presence in Queensland through the assembly of the MQ-28 Ghostbat unmanned aircraft at the new Wellcamp Airport Aerospace & Defence Precinct. The MQ-28 Ghostbat will be the first military aircraft to be designed, engineered and manufactured in Australia in more than 50 years and the first time ever Boeing will assemble an aircraft outside of North America.
