Queensland facilities supporting the air defence sector include:

RAAF Base Amberley

Located 40 kilometres south-west of Brisbane, Amberley is the Australian Defence Force's largest base and employs more than 6500 people. Its primary role is to home-base and provide full operational and maintenance support for the precision strike element of the Air Combat Group, the Royal Australian Air Force's (RAAF) F/A-18F Super Hornet aircraft. RAAF Base Amberley also supports elements of the strategic lift capability for the Australian military with the introduction of the KC-30A Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT), C-17 Globemaster III heavy lift aircraft and C-27J Spartan battlefield airlifters.

RAAF Base Townsville

The Townsville RAAF base is home to a number of squadrons including No. 27 (City of Townsville) Squadron, the Australian Army's No. 5 Aviation Regiment - Black Hawk and Chinook helicopters, No. 452 Squadron Townsville Flight (air traffic control) and No. 38 Squadron.

Swartz Barracks, Oakey

Swartz Barracks (formerly Army Aviation Centre) in Oakey is located 160 kilometres west of Brisbane and offers a training area for Australian Army Aviation and is also home to the 126 Squadron (Cougar helicopters) of the Republic of Singapore Air Force.

RAAF Base Scherger

Located on the western side of Cape York Peninsula, the Scherger RAAF base is a bare base developed to form a strategic link of outposts across Australia. It was designed to allow operational units to move into existing facilities at little or no notice.
