Defence Industries Queensland at LAND FORCES 2018

Land Forces 2018 was held in Adelaide, South Australia, from 4-6 September. The event showcased technology, equipment and services related to the land defence sector and attracted key local and international defence personnel, government representatives, equipment suppliers and industry leaders in the field of land warfare capability.

The next biennial event is Land Forces 2020, which will be held in Brisbane, Queensland from 1-3 September.

Defence Jobs Queensland exhibited at the event, partnering with 21 of Queensland’s leading defence industry businesses to promote our state’s leading capabilities. Joining us at the Queensland stand were:

  • BAC Technologies Pty Ltd is a premier composite design and manufacturing company with more than 35 years’ experience. The company is a leader in composite fibre engineering design to completed product, also aerospace composites and other civil composite projects. BAC has a long history with the Collins Class Submarine project, specialising in high performance materials for composite repairs and maintenance projects for offshore suppliers to the Australian Defence Force.

  • Craig International Ballistics is a Queensland-based manufacturer and the primary supplier of body armour to the Australian Defence Force. The company also produces a range of ballistic protection products including armour panels, vehicle spall liners, armoured vehicles, body armour training inserts and transparent armour frames. Craig International Ballistics represents American Glass Products in Australia for bullet resistant glass.

  • Downs Sheet Metal(DSM) is an Australian-owned company, based in Queensland, that services industries throughout Australia including defence, oil and gas, agricultural, construction, and also international companies. DSM is committed to providing the highest quality and performance, mobile tools storage systems and custom sheet metal solutions, both in Australia and globally.

  • EM Solutions is a privately held Australian company that designs and manufactures technologically superior microwave terrestrial and satellite equipment including land and maritime multi-band satcom-on-the-move systems supplied into Australian and international government and defence markets. The company also provides complex microwave subsystems to many global Prime contractors and offers a local capability in this area for engineering, build-to-print, repair and support services to the Australian market.

  • Ferra Engineering is a global organisation with its headquarters in Queensland and offices in the USA and India. Ferra partners with local and overseas commercial aerospace and defence companies to develop programs, establish platforms and provide an ever-increasing range of highly specialised products and engineering services.

  • Fountx, a subsidiary of TAE Aerospace, Fountx is a wearable assisted reality (AsR) technology that can significantly boost the productivity and capability of technical teams. The technology behind Fountx was developed by CSIRO, Australia’s premier industrial research organisation, and commercialised by TAE Aerospace. Using a collaborative approach, CSIRO and TAE Aerospace have ensured spatial awareness is always maintained producing an innovative and ground-breaking device that reduces maintenance downtime while improving accuracy, quality and safety performance.

  • Hetech is an established Australian electronics design and manufacturing company delivering high quality advanced manufacturing solutions to the defence and commercial sectors for more than 25 years.

  • ImmersaView Pty Ltd is a global leader in visualisation software. The company provides leading-edge visual software for multi-projector displays and VADAAR, a software framework that enables streaming, recording and reviewing of video, audio and data sources. Customers include defence primes; automotive manufacturers; Australian, US and Canadian defence forces; and major defence and simulation companies.

  • IntelliDesign is an Australian electronic design and manufacturing company that develops and manufactures high quality, robust, electronic devices for mission-critical applications across a variety of markets including defence. IntelliDesign has a highly skilled team of designers and engineers and a well-equipped production area that includes automatic optical inspection, x-ray analysis and flying probe testing.

  • L3's Brisbane division, L3-Micreo is a world leader in the design and manufacture of radio frequency (RF) and photonic components for Electronic warfare and radar systems. The company’s products are installed in front-line military aircraft, enabling identification, tracking and spoofing to achieve spectrum dominance.   • Laserdyne Pty Ltd develops and manufactures military and paramilitary electro-optic products including laser rangefinder modules, high and standard definition ruggedised video displays and video recorders. The company has an international client base with its products being deployed for surveillance; situational awareness; target tracking and fire control for army, navy, coast guard and special operations across air, land and sea platforms. Laserdyne does not use ITAR controlled components and produces 50 to 100 units of each product group per month (scalable) and offers customisation, subject to quantity.

  • Praesidium Global is a technology company specialising in the design and manufacture of military unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) and integrated solutions.   • Established in 1993 and located in Brisbane, SDI Plastics offers product design, plastic injection moulding and toolmaking services. The company specialises in bringing a product from concept to reality, resulting in cost savings and product improvements.

  • STEYR Motors Australia provide a range of motors for the marine and automotive industries. The company offers environmentally-friendly hybrid solutions that deliver low-speed manoeuvring, as well as automotive diesel engines used extensively in military and light commercial operations.

  • Thompson Couplings Limited is an Australian designed and patented manufacturer of high quality driveline solutions with reliable and durable alignment eliminator couplings and constant velocity joints. These require minimal or no maintenance and offer easy and quick installation, reduced downtime and operating costs, and long running life, and come with a three-year warranty.   • Australian manufacturer White Industries has supported Australian Industry through metal cast component solutions since 1960. The company continues to expand their range of cost effective casting solutions nationwide, producing components to service manufacturing for mining, rail, engineering, pumping, heavy transport, automotive, agricultural, municipal and defence industries. The company is a modern, forward thinking business with in-house pattern and core making, CNC machining with lathes and machining centres, fabrication and a modern foundry.
